Ingredients & Instructions Tips

Ingredients

Apple is the essential ingredient. Opt for fresh apples such as gala apples, fuji, Honeycrisp, or any fresh type of red apple.

Apple Preparation

For this recipe, you can either leave the apple skin or you can peel the apples. This is more of a preference, though the texture may differ a bit. It is best to start by making the sugar seasoning mixture first. This prevents the apples from browning up so soon.

At the start of the recipe, you can also begin by peeling and slicing the apples first. Lemon juice or any type of citrus juice can be added to the peeled apples. This can help the apples from browning.

Baking

Adding water and butter during the cooking process helps the apples from drying up. The combination of the water and butter adds moisture to the apples. Feel free to switch up the seasoning ingredients for this dish. Cinnamon and nutmeg are flavorful fall seasonings. Other great options to try are apple and pumpkin pie spice.
