Banana Plants

Banana plants are tropical plants that are similar to white birds of paradise and lobster claw plants. The banana plant typically produces one bunch of fruit per year. The fruit prior to ripening begins as a dark green shade, then gradually turns to a lighter green, and then a bright yellow color as the banana has fully matured.

Much of the banana production in the world is centralized in Southeast Asia. In South America, Brazil is a large producer of bananas. Guatemala and Ecuador are also large producers. The Central and Western regions of Africa have a large production of bananas due to the ideal climate conditions.

Climate & Planting

Banana plants grow in tropical climates. The plants do well in warm and humid weather. They can be found in many of the tropical regions worldwide.

Banana plants need sun to produce fruit, though they can tolerate some shade but still require sunlight during the day. All the banana plants are planted outdoors in full sun. Most of the banana plants are planted in the ground, and one is in the plastic plant pot.

Food & Drinks

Bananas are healthy and delicious soft fruits. The unripe and overripe bananas are considered safe to eat, though the taste may not resemble the delicious fresh yellow banana taste. The banana is one of the most consumed fruits worldwide, mainly for its affordability and the nutrition it offers. In addition, there are numerous banana recipes from around the world.
