Apple Shrimp Cocktail

Apple and tomato shrimp cocktails are appetizers with the tops of the apples and the tomato removed, then the insides scooped out. They are then stuffed with shrimp cocktail sauce, shrimp, lemon, lime, cilantro, and onion.


Ingredients Details

For this recipe, opt for fresh produce and cooked shrimp. You can buy raw shrimp and cook them prior to preparing and serving them.
Shrimp: medium-sized, cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimps
Fruits and vegetables
Apples: Gala apples; alternatives: cosmic and honey crisp
Grapes: green grapes; alternative purple grapes
Tomato: red beefsteak tomatoes; alternative: red heirloom tomatoes
Cabbage leaves: fresh cabbage; alternative: green leaf lettuce
Cilantro: fresh cilantro
Onion: red onion; alternative: white onion
Lemon: fresh lemon
Lime: fresh lime
Sauce and seasonings 
Salt and pepper: plain salt and ground black pepper
Shrimp cocktail sauce: Heinz Original Cocktail Sauce. Alternative: Great Value Cocktail Sauce 



Ingredients

  • 16 cooked, medium-peeled shrimp
  • 5 cabbage leaves
  • 4 apples
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 grape bunch
  • 2 teaspoons cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons red onion
  • ½ lemon
  • ½ lime
  • 1 ¼ cup shrimp cocktail sauce
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

Cut the citrus fruits and vegetables. Cut the lemon into thin slices. Cut the lime into small wedges. Cut the cilantro and red onion into small pieces.

The apples and the tomato. Cut and remove the tops of the apples and the tomato. Scoop out the insides of the apples and the tomato. Add ¼ cup of shrimp cocktail sauce to each apple and tomato. Add more or less sauce, if desired. Add three shrimps to each apple. Add four shrimps to the tomato. Add the lemon slices to the top edges of the apples and the tomato. Add the cilantro, red onion, and lemon wedges to the apples and the tomato.

SeasoningAdd a pinch of salt and pepper to the apples and the tomato.

Cabbage leaves. Lay out the cabbage leaves on the dish, then add the apples and tomato on top of the leaves. 

Grapes. Add the grape bunch to a creamer cup. Place the creamer cup in the middle of the dish, around the apples.
